Sorbus aucuparia README
Sorbus aucuparia, Eng. Rowan/Mountain Ash/European Mountain Ash, Finn. [koti]pihlaja.
Grows widely in Europe, parts of Asia Minor and the Westernmost Siberia. The Rowan a mythical aspect
attached to it in Finnish folk culture; having a rowan-tree growing by your house
was considered lucky. The tree is one of the most common Finnish trees and is also planted
widely for its nice flowers (for a period of 1-2 week(s) in June as depicted here)
and for the bright red to yellow berries staying in the tree well into the autumn.
