08 - Jacob's Wheat Grain Run

At one time, there were two grain silo loaders at Grapefruit Town to be serviced by trains. These days, only one grain silo loader continues to operate. It's said that many years ago, two different farmers had cooperated with each other, splitting their tasks by producing one type of grain on each of their farms: the current Jacob's Flour and Grain produces wheat grain for making wheat flour, whereas the other at one time made barley for beer production. One day, the barley farmer got a little greedy and upped the price per pound of barley he produced, an action that made several distillers unhappy. It's alleged that this action caused a fallout between the two farmers. This happened during a time of drought, mainly affecting the farms in the plains section, leading to a period of food shortage. Having poor sales due to lack of orders from various distillers, the barley farmer sold off his farmland, disconnected the loading track, and moved his entire family elsewhere, abandoning his farmland and leaving a few artifacts behind. To this day, it's not known what has become of him in the years since and what his grandchildren are up to.

Today, you'll be taking empty hopper cars to Jacob's Flour and Grain at Grapefruit Town. Due to a sudden power shortage that temporarily placed BNSF's GP38s out of service, a couple of B40-8Ws have been provided and Norfolk Southern even leased out a couple of their GP38-2s to BNSF. Once you do a shuffle of picking up the loaded grain cars and dropping off the empty ones, you'll take the loaded ones back to Hildemore City and couple them to a manifest train outside of the yard to be taken to a place elsewhere.
