Fjalkestads Kyrka
Fjalkestad church is a romanesque type of church from the 12th century, which has been modified and rebuilt during its long history.
Today's north-south orientation is the result of a 19th century rebuilding as an attempt to accomodate a quickly growing population.
The medieval church was orientated on the traditional west-east axis, with a choir and an apse in the east. The broad western tower, which is original,
shows clear signs of a noble patronage in the parish during the early middle ages. A fire in 1917 devastated most of the church, but the walls remained and it was restored.
