Class A Shays had two trucks and two cylinders and ranged in size from 10 to 20 tons.

This model is based on drawings published in the
September 1985 MODEL RAILROADER MAGAZINE.
The drawings was drawn by ALLEN J. BREWSTER.

The drawings was based on two class A Shays:

Construction No. 2806 - build in September 1914
(Owned by H.W. REED & SONS of Mishawaka Ind.)

Construction No. 2812 - build in May 1915
(Owned by C.W. North & Co. of Yoder Ind.)

Locomotive Specifications:

Cylinders = 6x10 inches
Drives = 22 inches
Weight = 13 tons
Equiped with link-and-pin couplers
Steam brakes
Acetylene headlight
Water siphon to pickup water from ponds, streams,
horse watering troughs, and any other place water could be found.
