Mohawk Industrial Railroad

Welcome to Grafton, the home of the Mohawk Industrial Railroad. The MIRR is a fictional small industrial shortline, set in the fictional City of Grafton in the mid 2000s, which serves several independent customers plus an industrial park. It has simulated outside connections via portals with CSX and the Muncy Valley Railroad.

The MIRR was originally a small private operation which used whatever locomotives it could acquire (mostly small switchers - SW1500s, SW1200s and the like) but quickly found these were not always sufficient even when using multiple units.

The railroad existed in this state for almost a decade, barely surviving. Local leaders realized the railroad was essential to many local businesses and could potentially serve several more industries which were currently not rail served.

Fast forward a few years and much funding, and now the railroad has partnered with the City of Grafton and the State of New York and made extensive improvements: a track replacement program and other essential facility improvements are under way and all older locomotives have been retired and replaced with newer rebuilds (RP20BD Genset and GP15D) which include improvements for efficiency, noise reduction, and reduced environmental impact.

With this rebirth, the MIRR switched their locomotives to a bold new blue and orange paint scheme. The railroad wanted something eye catching to help avoid accidents at crossings. All are equipped with flashing strobes as well to increase visibility.

The track structure of the MIRR is like an inverted letter 'T' with a wye acting as the junction of the T. The northern branch connects with CSX and has the main locomotive facilities of the MIRR, while the western branch dead ends in the industrial park. The eastern branch connects to the Muncy Valley Railroad and serves three customers, a scrap yard, a lumber yard , and a metal fabricator.

The main focus of the MIRR is switching. To help with this, the MIRR has two yards, one on the north branch named Northpoint Yard and a larger one on the western branch named Midpoint Yard. Northpoint Yard is where outside trains drop off cars. Midpoint is used by the MIRR for sorting cars for the western branch industries and sometimes car storage.

MIRR customers include (these are all BI2 industries which auto load/unload):

Industrial Park:
- McCook Cold Storage (loads/unloads)
- Steel Mill (loads)
- Calvin Screw and Bolt (loads/unloads)
- Tesco Food Warehouse (loads/unloads)

Other western branch:
- Davidson Concrete (loads)
- Northern Energy Propane Dealer (unloads)
- L & P Plastics manufacturer (unloads)

Eastern Branch:
- Valley Magnetic Metals Scrap Yard (loads/unloads)
- Central Lumber and Supply Yard (unloads)
- Woodfield Metal Working (loads/unloads)

MIRRs largest customer is the McCook Cold Storage facility in the industrial park.

Other Features:
Some different features of the route besides allowing many switching opportunities. These include:
- Take a quick boat ride on Lonely Pine Lake.
- While there take an ATV ride around the entire route with Larry on his day off.
- Fly a helicopter from downtown around the middle of the route for a different view of things.

Route created by user whamm0 (Walter Hamm). You are free to use it however you want as long as it is not used in payware.
Warning: This route is very detailed and while not large (28 base boards) it may strain your pc video if it is not strong enough. It runs on a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti moderately well however) If you find it runs rough you can try the fix suggested here: https://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?167083-TRS19-amp-TRS22-Performance-on-Radeon-GPU&p=1914772#post1914772

There are two associated sessions available:

The first sets up trains with matching commodities for each industry (default). This session starts at 12:00 and you will need to wait for trains to finish arriving (approximately 45 minutes of actual time).

The second (instant) just places the needed cars in Northpoint Yard to start with
