D&RGW PA1

The D&RGW got 4 PA1s in 1947, road numbers 6001,6003, 6011, and 6013. At lest 5 deferet paint jobs were used. The ALCO PA1 2000Hp. built from 1946 to 1949, gear ratio gave speeds of 80mph, 90mph, 100mph, and 117mph. used for passenger trains, later freight.Tne engine had an exhaust-actuated turbocharger so that untile the engine revved up to speed there was a lack of oxygen causing improper combustion and a lot of black smoke.
