Southern PA2

The Southern got 6 PA2 in 1953. The ALCO PA2 2250Hp. built from 1950 to 1953, gear ratio gave speeds of 80mph, 90mph, 100mph, and 117mph. Tne engine had an exhaust-actuated turbocharger so that untile the engine revved up to speed there was a lack of oxygen causing improper combustion and a lot of black smoke.
