SRA Class 46 #4633

Artistic license has been used to re-livery the default South African Railways type 6E as a New South Wales
State Rail Authority (SRA) Class 46 electric (1,500Volts DC).
The 46 class were mostly used on the Blue Mountains, Gosford, and Illawarra lines, typically for coal and freight haulage. They have also seen work on passenger services. In the last few years, all of the class were withdrawn, at least partly due to replacement by more modern electric locos. Following recent scrappings, only 5 of the 41 manufactured still exist.

Metropolitan Vickers manufactured these powerful (3,400hp/2535kw) units and the first went into service in 1956.
