Westport Wharf

A small 1 board shunting layout that can be incorporated into a larger layout.The plans are from the book; Model Railroader 48 Top-notch Track Plans, by Kalmbach Books. The layout was designed by Russell D. Schoof. The Westport Terminal RR represents a section of a large railroad with a yard serving a busy wharf and industrial area. A yard office and minimal engine service facilities are provided for engine and crew comfort. Connection to the main is made via the track leading through the fence. The two docks in the wharf area are equiped to handle all types of cargo. Two cranes and a grain elevator take care of loading and unloading ships and barges. The docks recieve boxcars, flats, reefers ,gondolas with variuos loads, and hoppers for movement of bulk loads. Cars are moved in blocks to deliver and pick up cargo on the piers and are spoted and sorted on tracks 1, 2, and 3 by the yard office.
