CSD 434.2

The 434.2 class originated by reconstruction of the 434.0 class locomotives (170 kkStB class). First nine pieces were reconstructed by Prvni ceskomoravska in the year 1924. Since 1930, the locomotives were converted in the locomotive-woks in Louny, Plzen, and Nymburk. At the reconstruction, layout and number of piping in boiler were changed and the locomotive got a small-piping preheater together with longer smoke-box. Smoke-box doors were round with centric closure. Original slider regulator in the front dome was substituted by valve regulator. Cast-iron chimney with a crown moved over the front uncoupled wheel. Supply pipes went from smoke-box and were pointed at to the rear and down, which was one of characteristic signs of 434.2 class. One of the last adjustments was the installation of Giesel exhaust ejector with flat chimney. The total of 345 locomotives was reconstructed. The reconstruction increased the indicated power in comparison with locomotives class 434.0 from 920 KW beyond 1010 KW. The locomotives of 434.2 class were in most cases coupled with the tender class 516.0, but went along with other tenders as well.
