FreightCar America Inc. offers the AutoFlood III™ Aluminum Hopper Car, a five-pocket outside stake automatic discharge hopper car with a 286,000-gross-rail-load that can be bottom or rotary unloaded. The Autoflood III has a extreme length and width of 53'1 and 10'8', respectively and the car's 13'3' side height increases loading flexibility at the mine. With a load limit of over 118 tons and a standard capacity of 4,200 cubic foot, a 10' inch heap extends the capacity to over 4,600 cubic foot. The Autoflood III utilizes FreightCar America's patented MegaFlo™ door system, which uses tension rather than compression to keep the doors locked over center. This translates into less wear and lower maintenance on the doors. The automatic discharge system is configured with double doors, which offers a 44-inch opening. As with all FreightCar America aluminum freight cars, great emphasis has been placed on the design and manufacture of a car that provides its customers with an optimum balance of lightweight and high capacity. The car is also equipped with FreightCar America's patented one-piece cold-rolled center sill, which provides improved structural integrity.
