HO5B HYWX 7001-7120

HYWX 7001-7120 K341 Trinityrail Rotary Hopper. TrinityRail's latest generation standard Rapid Discharge® coal car is the RD VI. This is a lightweight aluminum 4,207 cubic foot capacity, 286,000 lb. gross rail load car with a fully adjustable, double-locking mechanism. To further reduce operating costs, the cars are fitted with five rapid discharge bays that permit unloading while in motion. A continuous steel center sill offers the strength and durability to meet the rigors of unit train coal service. Enhanced hopper configuration and large door openings provide minimal product bridging while promoting full cleanout.Some users have opted to add rotary couplers so that cars can be unloaded with their existing rotary dumpers, allowing the cars to be mixed in trains with coal gondolas such as BethGon CoalPorters. The cars are currently in service with several railroads and utility companies, where they operate in unit trains between mines and power plants.
