CDN Dance Hall building
The rise of the big band era saw the establishment of dance halls across North America. Railways offered dance night excursions, bringing young adults to hear the latest in live music and dance. This asset is based on the Danceland pavilion in Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan. Built in 1928, it features a nail-free maple floor of 5,000 square feet, floating on 8-inch thick twisted bundles of horsehair to create a springy feel, reduce fatigue, and allow dancers to boogie-woogie all night long. Danceland is still operating as of mid-summer 2024.
