NSWGR C3901 T Cowra Flyer

The 39 class was a one off built during the second world war.

It was build to move heavy coal trains over the steeply graded Blayney Harden line – not a lot of information on this unit is recorded since it was paid for directly from funds of the British Ministry of Defence and there are no NSW records of it being built or its operations. After the conclusion of the war the MOD moved it into safe storage in the UK in case of emergency but in the late 60's the MOD having no other use for it, used it as a ground target for aircrew training and it was blow to bits with no trace of it left.

Due to its main operations being at night and the war time restrictions no known photographs exist of this loco.

Not being owned by the NSWGR only operater by it, in a very restricted and on a need to know basis there is very little information about this locomotive and what records are around are mostlry still cover by the offical haush hush ACT due to its cold war service.
