WA Pilbara Iron - ROBE GE CM40-8M
The Robe River Railway was once a stand alone rial network but is now part of the Rio Tinto Group and the Pilbara Iron Network.
The Pilbra Iron Network is a private heavy railway while the sole purpose of hauling Iron Ore in Western Australia. The network is is the largest of the Iron Ore Railways.
Robes CM40-8M were rebuilt form Alco C636's sourced from Robes own fleet and units purchased for the purpose from both the USA and other operators of them in Australia. With the original unit built i972. Robe had 12 of these units which were all later absorbed into the Rio Tinto Fleet
Unit numbers are 9410-9411, 9414, 9417-9425
