Stockholm Gamla Riksarkivet

Another model created in Google SketchUp and exported to Trainz with RubyTMIX. A building ahead of its time. The building on Riddarholmen, in Stockholm, that formerly housed the National Archives was erected between 1887 and 1890 to a design by architect Axel Fredrik Nyström. The building, a unique example of late 19th-century institutional architecture, was considered unusually modern for its time. It is probably Sweden’s best preserved 19th-century institutional building and also attracts much attention from abroad. Both the decorated and monochromatic surface layers are largely original. The building was previously used to house the national archives, which were also made available for study. The oldest documents date back to the medieval period. The former archive building is a listed historical building and is managed by the National Property Board. 3D model made by Jennie Persson at Sightline Vision AB. (www.sightline.se). Model made by Sightline.
