Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railroad

'The Pitttsburgh & West Virginia Railroad' is a terrain generated map of the The Wabash Pittsburgh Terminal Railroad. Built in 1903, it went from the'Pittsburgh Junction' with the Wheeling & Lake Erie RR near Hopedale Ohio. to Pittsburgh PA. After falling into receivership, a group of investors purchased it in 1917 and renamed the road The Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railroad. In 1929-31, the railroad was extended to Connellsville PA, where it interchanged with the Western Maryland to become part of the famed 'Alphabet Route' which ran from New York to Chicago. In later years the W&LE took control of the road. There are no 'Tiger Lines' shown, but small signs, indicating the location of towns, have been placed along the tracks so that conditions in those areas, (Multiple track, yards, roads ,waterways, etc.) can be accessed using USGS topo maps. The map has 110 miles of track, 1556 baseboards, and covers 311 sq miles.
