Allegheny Valley Railroad

'The Allegheny Valley Railroad' is a terrain generated map of the The Allegheny Valley Railroad, a class 3 railroad servicing former Norfolk Southern, CSX rails, and numerous freight facilities in the greater Pittsburgh area. In addition, the AV RR also interchanges with the Buffalo & Pittsburgh, and the Wheeling & Lake Erie railroads. The Allegheny Valley (AVR) started operations in 1995 and operates 77 miles of track in the greater Pittsburgh area, with lines extending from Pittsburgh to New Kensington, Washington, and Bakerstown PA.

On the map you will find the AV RR right of way textured in red, and trackage rights textured in blue. There are no 'Tiger Lines' shown, but small signs, indicating the location of towns, have been placed along the tracks so that conditions in those areas, (Multiple track, yards, roads ,waterways, etc.) can be accessed using Google Maps. Since the AV RR is currently running everyday operations, Google Maps will give you a much more accurate discription of the route. The map has 77 miles of track, 1068 baseboards, and covers 213 sq miles. A TrainzMap of the route is available in the content folder. Open the file in Contant Manager, click on 'Edit in Explorer', and look for the AV RR Map.jpg'
