Locomotora diésel-eléctrica, destinada al servicio regional Cordoba - Villa Maria y al Larga Distancia Cordoba - Rosario, puede ir acoplada en mando múltiple aumentando así su capacidad de arrastre.

La subserie 319.2 procede de la transformación de locomotoras de la serie 1900, mejorando su motorización e incorporando ciertas novedades tecnológicas. Algunas locomotoras incorporan ejes de ancho UIC para circular por líneas de 1.435 mm.
