Metrovick Co Bo D5712

A 1200hp mixed traffic diesel electric locomotive built by Metropolitan-Vickers in 1958 in answer to British Railways Type 2 specification, from the modernisation program of 1955. This interesting locomotive was designed with the unusual Co-Bo axle arrangement to provide the required tractive effort and axle loading, whilst giving it a low overall weight. Twenty locomotives were built, all powered by a Crossley HSTV8 two stroke diesel engine. Modeled here as D5712, an early version with curved cab side windows, this version has animated corridor companion connector doors at the B end, operated with the pantograph key.
