SH code means 3 cars, FSH code means 4 cars, VSH code means 5 cars, the maximum number of cars in a set is 5, when they're used on shuttles such as football or show specials they put 2 P Class at each end in puch-pull and combine to consists, but they never re-arranged the car number order as they are all fixed couplers with intermediate cars, most cars used was 9, was a VSH and FSH set combined, BCH end of the train (Always Faces Melbourne End) also known as East End, during the late 1980s and early 1990s P Class where sometimes permanently coupled to one end and a T Class was used as the P Class had a Diesel Alternater for the airconditioning, this means in a run-around they need to disconnect everything and the main-power is shut off, so they'll only do a run-around with a T Class, also the diesel alternator would take up allot of fuel and the P Class wouldn't make it on long runs, so only the T Class would be online with the P Class only powering the airconditioners.
