114 of these wagons were built in 1975 for use by British Steel transporting limestone to the steelworks at Lackenby. 30 were rebuilt as general purpose hoppers in 1983, while the remainder of the fleet was bought by EWS in 2003 for continuing use. Due to the heavy staining caused by the load, these wagons were nicknamed White Ladies.
