CLMW Heavyweight RPO

The Cleveland and Midwestern used a fleet of heavyweight passenger cars on their passenger trains well into the 1960s. While intercity passenger service ended in 1971 after Amtrak was formed, some of the cars survive to this day in either secondhand owners or on at least one occasion, as an office car special for the railroad. This is a Railroad Post Office car. The CLMW operated RPOs on their trains up until 1968, a year after the US Post Office Department (later the USPS) cancelled all first class rail by mail contracts.

These heavyweight railroad cars are reskins of the Texas State Shops Heavyweight Pack. The models are property of trainzman54, and the Cleveland and Midwestern is grateful to them for allowing us to reskin these and post them to the DLS.
