36ng Steam Dummy

A fictional 2-4-2T steam dummy, based off of a Porter designs. It would have been built in the mid 1880s. Steam dummies were built for use on street railways. The logic was that by hiding the locomotive under a street car disguise, horses wouldn't be frightened. After about 1890, most larger cities were electrifying their streetcar lines, making these engines surplus. In the Pacific Northwest, a number were sold to lumber companies after retirement from the Portland streetcar lines. This led to several 3 foot 6 inch gauge logging lines in the area. This model is in 3 foot gauge, painted for the Willamette Bridge company, one of the Portland streetcar lines.
