G&D # 9/10 0-4-0T

As early as 1939, the B&O C-16s caught the attention of model railroaders, appearing in an article in the January 1939 issue of Model Railroader. Varney started producing a diecast kit of the class in HO scale in 1941. Known by modellers as Little Joes or Docksiders, models of this class would be produced by manufacturers in almost every scale over the following decades. Modeler John Allen owned a pair of these models for his Gorre & Daphetid Railroad. G&D number 9 was a Varney model while number 10 was a Sakura imported by Pacific Fast Mail. Remarkably, both models survived the fire which destroyed the railroad. Number 10 is reportedly on display at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, CA while Number 9 is privately owned and has been restored to operation. This model represents both locomotives as they appeared during the 1960s.
