36ng Uintah 20

Built in June 1905 by Baldwin for the Uintah Railway, #20 was the first of two 0-6-2T side tankers. Purchased for use on passenger trains, the pair were a common sight between Atchee and Dragon from 1905 to 1935, hauling a single combine. The single combine was because of the 35 ton rating between Atchee and Dragon, where there were grades as steep as 7.5%.
They were rebuilt 2 times by the Atchee shops. The first rebuild (1915) removed the airtank from behind the trailing truck and added two new ones to the location of the second sand dome. The coal bunker was extended with coal boards, and electric headlights and dynamo were added. The second rebuild (1925) moved the air tanks to below the cab floor, added a full height coal bunk, and enclosed the cab. This model represents #20 as she appeared after her second rebuild. According to eye-witness accounts, she was painted green with gold and red stripes. However, I have seen no trace of the red stripes in any photo, so they have been left off. If I do see a photo which shows them, this model will be updated to include them
