D&RGW C-48 Tender

Tender for Denver & Rio Grande Western C-48 class 2-8-0. These were very typical tenders built in the first decade of the 20th century. Water capacity was 8,000 gallons throughout the tenders' service lives. Coal capacity was initially 15 tons. Over time, coal boards were added to many examples increasing coal capacity to 18 tons. Brakeman cabins ('doghouses') were added to many of the tenders - roughly half of the fleet had them in 1954. This model retains the original 15 ton coal capacity, has a brakeman cabin and is painted in the 'Flying Grande' herald introduced in about 1940.
