Erie Northern - Base Session

The is the Base Session for the Erie Northern route,<KUID:87783:1036:1> August 2009.

This session contains no active trains, but is a template for those who wish to create their own sessions based on the EN route. Erie Northern makes extensive use of the Invisible Speed Signal to control train speed through turnouts. The ISS is, however, a session-based control, so if you load the map without an existing session, all of the ISS controls revert to their default (off) settings. There about 50 of them in the map and programming them yourself will be a very time consuming process, so using the base session is highly recommended if you wish to create your own sessions.

If you do create a session you like, consider submitting it for evalution. Accepted sessions will become a part of the EN world and will be listed on the DS with other EN content, along with credit to the author. Contact me for details.

When you're ready to create your own scenario using the Erie Northern map, just load this base session along with the map. Then save the session to a name of your choice, add your rolling stock and you're ready to start working with your new scenario. Be sure to visit the Erie Northern website, where you'll find the Operations Manual and System Map. The manual is particularly helpful to session designers, as it explains many of the design concepts and techniques used with the route.
